Police have detained five New Jersey fifth-graders for allegedly plotting to attack a high school during a field trip.
The students from School 11 in Clifton were detained on Wednesday.
Police say they brought a device to school and were planning on using it
during a field trip to Clifton High School. The device was later
determined to be non-explosive.
Authorities say the students were caught when teachers and
administrators found written plans
on how the alleged attack would
occur. The school then contacted police.
The students were released into their parents' custody later Wednesday.
All five have been suspended. No criminal charges have been filed at
this point. The investigation is ongoing.
