Police say a Maryland officer has been hospitalized after being shot in the face by a suspect who is now in custody.
The Aberdeen Police Department says the officer was flown to a hospital Friday in stable condition.
Police spokesman Sgt. C. William Reiber says a suspect fired a long gun
at the officer, who will undergo surgery for a "projectile in his eye."
Reiber identified the officer as Jason Easton.
Police say Easton was responding to a call for suspicious activity
around 2:30 a.m. when the shooting happened. Police say the man
suspected of the shooting, 21-year-old Tyler Testerman, has been taken
into custody after a search.
Reiber says Testerman will be charged with attempted murder and other charges.
