Indian and Pakistani troops exchange fire



Officials say at least four civilians have been killed and another 23 wounded as Indian and Pakistani troops traded gunfire and shells in the disputed Kashmir region.

Both sides blamed the other for initiating the violence on Saturday.
Danish Rana, a top police officer in Indian Kashmir, said that three civilians were killed in the Balakot sector. Twenty others were wounded in the ongoing fighting.
Pakistan's army said in a statement that one civilian was killed and three others wounded.
Kashmir is divided between neighbours and rivals India and Pakistan but claimed in its entirety by both.
The nuclear-armed countries have fought two of their three wars over the Himalayan region.
