A Spanish court has ordered the detention of a man from the Ivory Coast who allegedly hid his 8-year-old son inside a closed suitcase in an attempt to smuggle the child into Europe.

A police statement said guards stopped a 19-year-old Moroccan woman who looked nervous as she waited in line Thursday at the land border crossing in Ceuta, a Spanish city enclave in North Africa.

When the guards put her suitcase through a scanner, they detected the boy curled up inside.

Border officers detained the woman and, later, the child's father at the same border crossing. The woman is married to the child's father.

A Ceuta magistrate on Friday ordered the father held on charges of human rights abuse.

Kylie Jenner says she's 'high as f***' in new video as Tyga's grandma says she approves of their relationship

Well, her boyfriend is 25, so if she's drinking and getting 'high as f**8',  no one should be surprised. The 17 year old reality star was seen in a brief video posted on snapchat whispering ‘I’m high as f***.’ as she gazed off camera while on a trip with Tyga.

Meanwhile Tyga's grandmother has given Kylie the seal of approval. 70 year old Kim Nguyen said she couldn't be happier that her grandson has traded Blac Chyna in for the 17 year old star. Talking exclusively to Daily Mail Online from her home in Los Angeles, the woman said;

'We all love Kylie and think she is so much better for Tyga than Blac. Yes she is King's mum, but Blac just wasn't a very nice person and Kylie comes from a much better family. She is such a sweet, lovely girl and seems to adore Tyga. So we didn't mind him splitting up from Blac. It was a relief for us all.'

Ankle injury annoys Ribery

Bayern Munich's French winger Franck Ribery is set to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

The 32-year-old has been out since March 11 and is currently wearing a special shoe to help heal the ankle injury which has ended his season according to German magazine Kicker.

"I am very sad, I've worked so hard for a quick comeback, but the ankle is not getting any better. It pisses me off," Ribery told Kicker.

Bayern's director of sport Matthias Sammer refused to confirm if Ribery's season is over, but he admitted the Frenchman will not play in Tuesday's Champions League semi-final, return leg, with the Germans having been routed 3-0 at Barcelona on Wednesday.

Unless his injury heals rapidly, Ribery will miss Bayern's last three league games against Augsburg, Freiburg and Mainz plus the Barcelona semi-final in Munich.

White House fence to be upgraded

The Secret Service is planning to attach a second layer of steel spikes to the top of the White House fence to keep would-be fence-jumpers out.

The plan to improve security along the White House perimeter is described in a project proposal submitted by the National Park Service to the National Capitol Planning Commission.

The commission is expected to approve the plan at a hearing on Thursday. The half-inch steel spike additions will be snapped into place at the top of the fence and protrude outward, according to a diagram included in the proposal submitted for the Secret Service, which protects the president.

Changes to the fence are being made months after a man with a knife was able to climb over the barrier and run deep into the White House.

Two killed in latest Libya rocket strike

Two people were killed when a rocket hit a residential building in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Thursday, bringing the death toll from recent fighting to at least 53 people in the past five weeks, medics said.

Forces loyal to Libya's internationally recognised government have been fighting Islamist groups in the eastern port city, part of a wider struggle in the four years since Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown and killed.

Army forces have regained some territory in Benghazi lost last year, but fighters of the Islamist Majlis al-Shura still control several districts and the commercial port area.

Man burned alive in Burundi protest

Protesters burned a man alive in Burundi's capital on Thursday, saying he was a member of the ruling party's youth wing which had attacked them during their demonstrations against the president's bid for a third term, a witness said.

Protesters have been on Bujumbura's streets for almost two weeks, often hurling stones at police who they say have fired live rounds, which police deny.

Opponents of the government say the June 26 presidential election should be delayed by a few weeks because of unrest. President Pierre Nkurunziza's spokesperson said that was unnecessary as most of the country was calm.

Kanye West snubbed wife Kim on the Met Gala red carpet?

I saw the photos and they looked happy but some keen observers say they detected friction between Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian on the 2015 Met Gala red carpet.

According to tell OK magazine

"At one point, when Kim reached for Kanye’s hand, he moved away to pose for photos! He also briefly left her on the red carpet to talk to another attendee while Kim continued to pose for the numerous photographers. As the couple headed inside, Kanye didn’t look like he wanted to pose with his wife, and photographers had to literally scream and beg him to turn back towards the cameras and face in the same direction as his curvy wife."
Go here to watch a clip of Kanye supposedly giving Kim the cold shoulder. I didn't see it though...

Photo: 7,000 Nigerians forced out of Niger republic

7,000 Nigerians who have been taking refuge in Lake Chad since Boko Haram attacks chased them from their villages in the North, are being forced out of Niger and back to Nigeria by the Nigerien military. The deportation started on Tuesday May 5th.

According to Voice of America, the Nigerians were forced out against their will following Boko Haram's attacks on the island of Karamga in Lake Chad last month in which 74 Nigerien soldiers and civilians were killed. The Nigerians were deported in trucks and dumped in Yobe state by the Nigerien military. A photo of some of the Nigerians deported above.

Commenting on the deportation, Alhaji Muhammed Kanar, the northeast coordinator for Nigeria’s Emergency Management Agency NEMA , said, “From the first three days, we received nearly 4,000. And in fact, another batch of nearly 3,000 or above, we are now in the process of registration.”.
Karl Steinacker, Niger's representative for the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, criticized the Nigerien government for sending the Nigerians back home and putting them at risk. Nigerians and Nigeriens lived around the Lake Chad but the Nigeriens were sent to communities and towns in Niger republic while the Nigerians who are taking refuge in the Lake Chad were deported to Yobe state in trucks.

"Those islands are home to both Nigerians and Nigeriens working in the fishing industry. But, while citizens of Niger are moving into cities and towns, Nigerians have nowhere to go but back across the border. People’s livelihoods have been destroyed because they have been told you can no longer live and work on the lake, and now they are told, OK, but in any event, we’ll take you back to your country. So they say yes… What other options do they have? Even if they are migrants, the question is, is it appropriate to send them back, and is it the right way it’s being handled, and I guess in both cases it is no," he said.

Call to halt Burundi protest for 2 days

File: AFP

Burundi protest organisers who have staged six days of demonstrations against President Pierre Nkurunziza's decision to seek a third term of office have called for protests to be halted for two days, a civil society leader said on Saturday.

"We decided to stop demonstrations for two days, first to allow those who lost their family members in the protests to observe mourning and, second, we want the protesters to regain energy before resuming the fight on Monday," said Pacifique Nininahazwe, head of Focode, one of the 300 civil society groups that have called for the demonstrations.

The presidency has described the demonstrations in the capital as an "insurrection" and warned protesters of "severe sanctions".

The opposition says Nkurunziza is violating the constitution by seeking a third five-year term, a claim his supporters dispute.

The first group of nearly 300 Nigerian girls and women released from Boko Haram were brought by the military to the safety of a refugee camp in the country's northeast on Saturday evening.

More than 677 females have been released this week, as the Nigerian military continues its campaign to push the Islamic extremists out their last remaining strongholds in the Sambisa Forest.

As darkness fell in this dusty part of Yola, a convoy of armed vehicles brought the women and young children crammed into the open backs of trucks to a school that has been turned into a refugee camp for people displaced by Boko Haram.
